The Division of Clinical Pharmacology offers a top quality research service, a network of university-based collaborating research scientists, and stringent quality assurance in conformity with regulatory requirements of the FDA.The division has the technology necessary to conduct a wide variety of clinical trials and can provide the required scientific and pharmacokinetic support in conducting clinical research studies.
In addition to performing sponsored clinical trials, the division has also generated original investigation in the areas of hypertension and renal disease, pharmacokinetics in diabetes mellitus, the effect on renal potassium excretory function of various antihypertensive drugs, platelet aggregation, and the Clinical Pharmacology of antibiotics, antihypertensives, central nervous system drugs, and cardiovascular agents.
The division has been conducting Phase I, II and III clinical research for pharmaceutical and biotech companies for more than twenty years. The Pharmacokinetics and Clinical Research Center within the division has outpatient facilities and twenty-four beds for inpatient studies. We are located on the sixty-seven acre campus of the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center complex in Miami-Dade county. Three large teaching hospitals and numerous specialty clinics are all within walking distance of each other. As one of the largest medical centers in the southeastern United States, our diverse patient population base and large number of specialty clinics provide us with the required elements to accomplish enrollment for protocols germane to various types of special populations.
